You can now spend your XP on extending the life of your gremlin, however with everything there are limits. And the more fights your gremlin has enjoyed, the more expensive it is to buy more days.

We hope we've got our figures right, and the cost makes things more fair for those who play on a casual basis, or suffer more refusals than others.

Only time will tell!

Once again this is just a small tweak to the existing code, just altering the way XP is dished out.

From now on you will receive XP based on the following formula, with new additions in bold:

  • 3 XP each for turning up
  • 7 XP goes to the winner if it is a knockout
  • 5 XP goes to the winner if it is won on rounds
  • 2 XP goes to each gremlin if you draw on rounds
  • 5 XP for each round won
  • 4 XP for each round of the match will be awarded on a percentage basis of total damage inflicted

To sum up, very little has changed, if you won a fight yesterday against a gremlin, you would have won the same fight tomorrow. The actual code for fights won't change tonight, however...

...the alloting of XP to spend on your gremlin will. From now on you will receive XP based on the following formula:

  • 3 XP each for turning up
  • 7 XP goes to the winner if it is a knockout
  • 5 XP goes to the winner if it is won on rounds
  • 2 XP goes to each gremlin if you draw on rounds
  • 4 XP for each round of the match will be awarded on a percentage basis of total damage inflicted

We also added a quick end-of-match stats line which lets you know who won how many rounds, and who did what damage.

This is very much a tweak of existing code rather than anything overly new and shiney. However it should finally address the issue of strength being the weakest of stats to pump your XP into.

We have also tweaked slighly the XP alloted at the end of each match, which although based very closely on the current system, now will give you a little more to spend at the end of the day.

Fed up with waiting for people to challenge you when a new gremlin is created? Well now you automatically get challenged by three computer controlled training gremlins, to get you under way quicker.

Just don't go challenging them yourself, as they won't accept any and it will be a wasted attempt. :)

On a related note, as a result of a missing semi-colon no gremlins have died in the last few days. So if yours died just now, you'll know that we replaced the semi-colon and nuked all those little furry creatures who were overdue for a death.

Now that we are happy with the fight code, and don't worry we won't be messing with it again for a fair amount of time yet, we will be implimenting something we have been considering (and hinting about on the forum) for a while.

As you know league table positions are calculated based on your score, which is a combination of your gremlin's statistics and wins. The current version of the fight code punishes people who leave their strength very low, but they still get a lot of experience points out of any fight they play, which helps their league placing.

After midnight tonight, a win will contribute 10 points towards your score, making it the most significant contribution towards your league placing, which should remove the final advantages of pumping everything into stamina and dexterity, and leaving strength as low as possible.

Back in November we pleaded to your good nature and asked you to spread the word about our fun online game, so others would join in and everybody would have someone to fight when their gremlin finally died and they created a new one.

That worked quite well, and we got a great new influx of new players. Well now we are pleading to your greed glands! :)

Yes, you can now recommend the game to people using a special URL that is unique to your account, and when they sign up and create a gremlin, you'll receive 50 points for free to spend as you see fit!

On the menu bar is a new option on the far right, so time to get charitable, and Tell a Friend about gremlins!

To help people see whether others are active or not, we've added a little bar next to each gremlin's fights column to indicate how busy they are. This is based on how many days old the gremlin is, and how many fights they have had. Anyone who has 15 a day will be very very active and green, whilst anyone who has barely 2 or less fights a day will be a sad empty low mostly white bar.

The second addition is an odds calculator on both the challenge and accept challenge pages, which let you see very rough odds of winning against this opponent using the tactics you have selected.

It runs a small sample (currently 25) of real fights to get these odds, however bear in mind this is not what would be called a statistically significant sample, so they should by no means be taken as gospel.

Also bear in mind they assume your opponent has selected normal tactics and not boosted their stats, which of course they may have done.

Every little helps though, eh?

Both might need a bit of tweaking, and are far from perfect, but hopefully useful additions to the game!

You now get 1 XP for accepting a fight, and 1 XP for every round you survive, plus 2 XP for winning.

And we put back in the dexterity decrease caused by fatigue (ie. low stamina score) from previous fight codes.
